Brazil’s most underrated cocktail. From day 1 of starting my Fernet Series, there have been dozens of comments that I should try the Macunaíma. Given the hype, I wanted to try it for the first time off camera—and I was blown away. To be honest, it’s effectively a cachaça daiquiri with a kick of Fernet Branca to pump up complexity. I already cachaça. The fernet helps boost the iconic grassy notes of the cachaça while rounding out the cocktail with much needed bitterness. Despite it containing one of my least favorite ingredients... this is a flawless drink.
Combine all ingredients into a shaker tin, add ice, shake, double strain into a copo americano glass (short, 6 oz glass) with no ice. No garnish.
