While in Japan, I stopped by Iyoshi Cola, a craft soda shop with their own homecrafted cola recipe. The cola was delicious. Herbal, citrusy, and bit spicy, I ended up bringing a bit of the syrup back. The Batanga is apparently the cocktail of 2024, and I thought it would be fun to riff on it with the Japanese cola syrup. For what its worth, this is not a super accessible recipe, but rather on the self indulgent side.
Add all ingredients except soda water to a highball glass with ice, and stir to incorporate. Then add soda water and stir to incorporate again. Garnish with a lime coin (and a chopstick as a reference to the typical knife in the Batanga)
